THE TEACHER PROJECT:

ENCOURAGING, RECOGNIZING AND SUPPORT OUR TEACHERS.

THE PROBLEM

Teacher shortages are beginning to impact our ability to provide quality education for our children.

In Texas alone in 2021-2022 school year roughly 364,478 teachers vacancies were reported, leaving 5,372,806 students without a qualified teacher in the classroom.

The future of our country depends on educating our children …

We need to provide the best education possible to ensure the futures of our children and communities. This starts with having qualified teachers in our school systems.

The shortage of teachers has created both a deficit of qualified teachers and a work overload for existing teachers. As a result, many teachers don’t have the necessary resources and support to provide the quality of education to help our children grow and progress toward their goals and dreams.

Burnout, lack of resources, and teacher exodus are some of the main problems schools face when providing high-quality education for our children.

OUR SOLUTION:

Teachers need to know that their communities are with them and recognize the sacrifices and investments they are making daily. Creating an Acronym from the word TEACHER, we have come up with seven ways to express how we can support, encourage and recognize our teachers.

Treating teachers with respect by understanding the importance of their role and profession.

Esteeming teachers by holding them in high regard

Appreciating teachers through acts of giving

Creating opportunities for ongoing development personally and professionally

Honoring teachers for their daily contributions seen and unseen

Encouraging teachers by rekindling the passion for the work

Restoring teachers by addressing and tending to the issues that lead to burnout

WHAT YOU CAN DO.

A community is only as good as its schools. Therefore when educators feel like they matter, the quality of education in the classroom is elevated. The dividends are tremendous on the simplest act of kindness, esteem, appreciation, honor, encouragement, and care given to our Teachers daily.

When you decide to participate in the Teacher Project, you are changing the trajectory of our future on a local level and on a larger scale.

Each Teacher will be able to identify participating businesses by the Teacher Project decal located at the business entryway and the register. Also, all participating businesses and redeemable perks will be listed on the We Can Build United official website.

How It Works:

There are two ways for businesses to get involved in the Teacher Project:

1

When a Business from the Houston area decides to get involved with the TEACHER Project they participate by offering discounts on their services or products for local teachers to redeem at the point of sale.

We call these Partners.

2

The second is to donate funds and other needed resources. These funds and resources will go directly to teachers in need and the R3 Events we put on for our teachers.

We call them Champions.

To Get Started:

Step 1: Got to the website or scan the QR code to sign up on the

“Business Starter Form.”

Step 2: A Teacher Project Business Representative will contact you for a “Business Jump Start Session.”

Step 3: Choose the perk or donation that your company or business would like to give Teachers and then, if applicable, implement that discount or freebie at the point of sale of your business.

Step 4: Start showering Teachers with love and be a part of the change in our beautiful city of Houston!

Partners are organizations and business that give perks on their daily services and products to teachers in their communities at the point of sale.

Champions are organizations that choose to give financially to the TEACHER Project to see it grow and expand its services to the teachers of their local community.

WHAT ARE WE DOING.

We host R3 events.

R3 Events are special moments that the Teacher Project has crafted to provide much-needed care for our teachers. We have put together several events and services available for our teachers throughout the year. These services focus on creating space for rest, relaxation, and refueling. R3 Events range from weekly services to our annual Teacher Conference. We also provided emergency resources for teachers in need. We are able to provide these services and host these events through our partnership with our local businesses, organizations, and individuals.
